Concept
Space science is full of wonder and excitement, but these elements are often lost in traditional classroom settings, where the focus can be on text-heavy materials and two-dimensional images. This can lead to disengagement and a lack of deeper understanding among students.
Utilizing the power of VR technology, "Gravity Playground" creates a dynamic and engaging learning environment where kids become active participants in their space education journey. By offering an immersive experience, students can explore, interact with, and visualize space concepts in a 3D environment that is both educational and enjoyable.

my story
In September 2024, I travelled around the Czech Republic and volunteered at secondary and high schools in Kyjov, Třebíč, and Hustopeče. There I taught children aged 9-14 about intercultural communication.
This experience had taught me that children are inquisitive about knowledge but also crave interaction, interesting conversation and movement. Young students have a lot of questions and curiosity at the beginning of class but often lose that spark by the end, due to the long presentations and textbook reading.
This prompted me to think about alternative ways to teach.

Project Goals & Ideation
1. Enhance understanding of space science concepts through immersive experiential learning.
2. Make learning accessible and enjoyable, tapping into the intrinsic curiosity of young learners.
Development on Unity and Blender
I focused on crafting a solar system that would ignite the imagination of young minds. My goal was to create a universe that feels both familiar and fantastical, striking a balance between scientific influence and childlike wonder. The planets are brought to life in vibrant, exaggerated colors, with whimsical features that capture the attention of young learners. Instead of precise, scaled models, each celestial body is infused with unique characteristics and playful details, encouraging kids to explore and ask questions. By blending educational content with a creative and visually stunning environment, we aim to make the mysteries of space accessible, engaging, and memorable.

The influence of joy and play in learning
Students who are encouraged to explore and discover through play, which has been shown to enhance cognitive development, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities. This playful approach to learning not only deepens comprehension and retention of complex concepts but also fosters a genuine passion for science and exploration. The immersive, gamified nature of the experience motivates children to take ownership of their learning journey .
